The way you start your morning can have a big impact on the rest of your day. Why not start your day with a morning routine that’s less manic Monday and more easy like Sunday morning? Give one (or all) of these daily habits a try the next time you roll out of bed to set yourself up for a successful day ahead.

#1 Wake Up & Meditate

Instead of pressing the snooze button on your alarm clock, take 5-15 minutes to close your eyes again (yay!) and meditate. Most people think meditating means clearing your mind of all thoughts. But since your mind will always have thoughts, meditation is more about acknowledging them, without getting swept away in them (being present). Easier said than done, I know, but if you notice your mind wandering — focus on deep breathing or counting. Even repeating a particular word, phrase or mantra can assist you in keeping your focus.

#2 Drop the Devices

Upon first waking up in the morning, most people grab one of their devices checking email or catching up on the latest social media posts. When this happens, you can easily get caught up in your inbox or fall into a social media rabbit hole. Before you know it, you’re running late…and you haven’t even left your bed yet (you know very well what I’m talking about)! Instead, challenge yourself to go 30-60 minutes before you grab for your phone, even if that means using an analog alarm clock!

#3 Fill Up on Gratitude

Instead of grabbing your phone first thing in the morning, replace it with some positivity instead. Think of one to three things you are grateful for in that very moment. Whether it’s waking up in a warm bed, next to a significant other, or just waking up at all, whatever it is, big or small — ease into your day with an air of gratitude.

#4 Drink Water

After catching eight to nine hours of shut eye, your body needs a big drink of water. Get up and grab an eight ounce glass of water, or leave one on your bedside table overnight. If the water is room temperature when you wake up, all the better, it will absorb in your body quicker meaning you will hydrate faster! Add some flavor in your morning with a mug of tea or a hot cup of coffee. Nothing says rise-and-shine like a batch of fresh coffee brewing in the kitchen.

Tip: Looking to mix up your morning tea flavors? Try some of our favorite tea selections like Green Tea, Fruit Tea and Herbal Sampler, Organic Chamomile Blend Herbal Tea and Organic English Breakfast Tea.

#5 Get Moving

Whether you go for a walk around the block, hit the gym for a quick sweat, or do some light stretching on your own, wake your entire body up with some sort of movement. Choose a movement you actually enjoy, that way you are more inclined to get out of bed at the crack of dawn!

#6 Break for Breakfast

Start your day off with a hearty breakfast like eggs or a bowl of oatmeal topped with your favorite nut butter, toast with a dollop of a fresh fruit spread or if you have some extra time, enjoy a stack of homemade pancakes or waffles topped with fresh fruit and drizzle of sweet syrup. In a hurry, grab some granola and a piece of fresh fruit or a handful of nuts.

Whether you choose one or several, reset your weekday mornings with a bit of inspiration from the weekend!
